The Next Steps in the process
The construction phase generally takes 10-12 weeks to complete. We start with framing, HVAC, rough plumbing, and rough electrical. The city then inspects these four items in an inspection called “the 4-Way Inspection.” This is the most important of the city inspections because they verify the safety of all components that will soon be covered by drywall. We want to ensure all these processes are done correctly to protect your home and family.
Once we pass the 4-way inspection, we’ll complete it in order- drywall, baseboards, doors, painting, bathroom set, plumbing, electrical, carpet, and final miscellaneous items like doorknobs, cover plates, etc.
Once we have finished construction, we will do a final inspection with the city. When this inspection is complete and we have passed, the city will issue a certificate of occupancy, and you can start to use and enjoy your basement. After the inspection, we do a walk-through with you and get a written list of all minor touch-up items we need to complete. We’ll organize and complete this list within five business days of our walk-through.
Post construction, you’ll benefit from a comprehensive 2-year warranty for your basement.

Step 1: Initial consultation and bid. During our initial meeting, we will review your basement design plans and offer suggestions for features that will help you keep pricing in a moderate range. Often, we have clients who have a very tight budget but want upgrade features such as extensive tile work, built-in cabinets, and large kitchens. We’ll review the costs of these items and offer functional alternatives for you to consider.
