Planning Makes Perfect

We Plan Every Step of Your Basement

Planning your basement is vital. It all starts with a detailed bid. The bid is intended to encompass the totality of your basement finish. The details will guide us in completing your basement according to plan and as specified. The bid will be detailed and accurate.

Pre-Construction Planning

The bid for your basement will show the details and price for each component. These details are important because the scope and cost of the work described are guaranteed. Your basement will be finished as described and for our agreed-upon price. One item in the bid that is commonly set as an allowance is the carpet. We offer a flexible carpet allowance, empowering you to select the rug of your choice. We will then adjust the carpet allowance to reflect your choice. Most of our clients can find a rug they like in the budget we set in the bid, but everyone’s tastes differ. This gives you the power to make choices that suit your preferences.

Once you accept the bid and decide to move forward with us to finish your basement, our next step is to draw the cellar for you so we can submit it for the building permit. This plan will serve as the blueprint we work from, defining door swings, lighting locations, and other details important to the finish. We take great care in this planning process to ensure nothing is overlooked, giving you the confidence that your project is in good hands.

This is your initial meeting with Project Manager Austin. Austin will review the bid and the basement drawing with you. He will review the schedule so we can meet the 4-way inspection deadline. You can ask questions and clarify the finishing process. Importantly, he will maintain regular contact with you throughout the construction process, serving as a reliable resource for any queries or concerns you may have.

The Finishing Process

  1. Clear bids and Pre-Construction Planning as outlined to the left.
  2. Framing: Our efficient team typically completes this phase within 1-3 days, ensuring that your project stays on track and is performed according to the basement drawing.
  3. Electrical: completed by a licensed electrician according to local building codes
  4. Plumbing: Each plumbing component is listed in your bid. This work is completed by a licensed and insured plumber, ensuring that your plumbing needs are met with the highest level of professionalism and reliability.
  5. Heating & Air Duct Work: Each city defines the supply and return vents your basement will need. We follow this requirement for your basement finish.
  6. 4-Way inspection: This is the most critical inspection for your basement. It covers everything that we will be covering with drywall in the next phase of the cellar, ensuring the highest quality of work.
  7. Insulation as required by code.
  8. Drywall: This process takes 3-5 days, depending on the size of your basement.
  9. Finish work and doors. 3-5 days. We will do our best to match the door and trim style of the main floor.
  10. Painting: The painting process is defined in the bid. If you would like to upgrade to either 2- or 3-tone paint, please let us know.
  11. Bathroom set to finish.
  12. Floor coverings.
